Phelps County Regional Medical Center will offer a Safe Sitter class for boys and girls ages 11 to 15 on Aug. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Education Classrooms.   The Safe Sitter program is a medically accurate program that teaches young adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children. Thousands of young adolescents across the country have been trained by Safe Sitter instructors to handle life-threatening emergencies. During the course, students get hands-on practice in basic lifesaving techniques so they are prepared to act in a crisis.

Safe Sitters also receive helpful tips to make them more confident caregivers. They learn safety precautions, how to handle children of different ages, and even the business of babysitting. To successfully complete the Safe Sitter program, students must pass rigorous practical and written test to show they have mastered the key concepts and have the skills necessary to handle an emergency.

The cost for the class is $50. To register your son or daughter or your child’s babysitter, call 573-458-7692 before July 30.

Just in case you missed it, the Christian Women Working Together (CWWT) Prayer Meetings at noon on Tuesdays have been put on-hold for now.  You can still get involved in other prayer ministries, though!  We will still have our CWWT Network Meetings at 6:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month and the CWWT Leadership Team meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Both meetings are at the Bank of Salem Courtesy Room on 4th St, Downtown Salem.

While sitting in church, have you ever felt like God wanted you to say something?  Many folks are afraid of speaking, but if God wants you to deliver a message, maybe you should listen.

Here’s your opportunity:  On August 14, 2010 at Kings Way UMC in Springfield, the Ozarks South District is sponsoring a Basic Course of Lay Leadership, “Leading, Caring & Communicating.”  Even if you don’t quite feel prepared (yet), this course will give you the knowledge to be ready when He calls.

The course will be led by Dorothy Brucks and is $30 and fulfills UMC requirements for local lay speaker.  Please prayerfully consider attending.  Contact the office for more information and registration forms.

God is at work in YOUR life. The thing is, we usually aren’t paying attention enough to see it!  Well, we want to change all of that.

Starting today, we want you to be more intentional about looking for those things – big and small – that show you God at work.  These “God Sightings” can be in your life, the lives of loved ones, at work, at church, ANYWHERE!
