AliveForverLast Sunday, we were treated to a wonderful Easter cantata by the Chancel Choir and the Praise Band.  Coming up on April 11th, the King’s Kids will present their musical offering, “Alive Forever!” during BOTH SERVICES (10:30 and 11am)!  Please pray for them!

For parents, they’ll rehearse: Wednesday (the  7th) 5:45 – 6:45 pm and Saturday (the 10th) 9:00 – 11:00 am.

Time to Book it! (we’re late!)

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Book fairYou may have wanted to help our backpack program and the kids it helps, but the scheduling didn’t work.  You may have wanted to support one of the other community/youth programs we have, but for whatever reason, couldn’t. Here is a way you can help!

The schools are having their book fair.  This brings a wonderful variety of worlds into their hands.  Some kids, however, can’t afford a book.  That is where you can help!  The book fair is in April. We’re a little late getting started, so they really need you to prayerfully consider supporting this.  Bring your donations into the church office.  You can change a kid’s life.

King’s Kids Christmas Musical

Friday, November 27th, 2009

kings_kidsIt’s the most wonderful time of the year!  Most of us think of the gift we give to the little ones, but coming soon, you (yes, YOU!) can receive a gift from them!

Our King’s Kids group will be performing a heartwarming musical where we celebrate the Christmas story told by some unsuspecting shepherds and their shaggy, smelly sheep.

This program will be in the Worship Center on up on December 13th at 6pm. See you there!

Backpack Program Resumes Soon!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

backpacksRelax, folks, summer isn’t over (yet).  Nevertheless, it’s only a few weeks until school starts again, and with it, the Backpacks of Love program.

This is a wonderful ministry that helps kids that need a little help to have the supplies they’ll need, as well as some comfort items.  This program directly impacts the community!  You can be a part of it.

Donations are needed to keep the program going.  The need is great.  Please consider helping these little ones as you are able.  Contact Jann Craig or the church office if you have questions.

Spotlight on: Backpack Program!

Monday, May 18th, 2009

We have a new outreach to the schools of Dent County called Love Packs.  Love Packs isn’t an original idea, but a copy of an idea finding great success around the country. It works something like this:

Many school children are eligible for free and reduced price breakfast and lunch at school each weekday. This program is awesome, but come the weekend what do these kids do?  Truth be told, some of these kids have little or nothing to eat each weekend.  Love Packs is a program to help with this need.  A back pack is filled with nutritious food to feed a child for the weekend and sent home with select children The pack includes dinner Friday evening, and 3 meals for Saturday and Sunday, assuring the kids don’t miss a meal during the weekend.  The program is in it’s infancy in Dent County, but we have had a wonderful and supportive beginning.backpacks

The children are selected by the principals at each school served, we have no input in who is served. This provides anonymity for the children and places the distribution with the person best equipped to provide the needed resources.

Thus far we have had $3,766.00 donated to the cause, commodities have been donated by 8 entities, and 1 entity has given us 10% off the retail cost of products. These donations have come form 32 different sources.

We have spent $2,623.52 of our donated resources to pack 276 packs between March 1 and May 21st. This distribution has been through 5 different schools in Dent County. We began packing 10 packs a week and have expanded to the point we are packing 45 packs a week with the help of 10 volunteers.

If you would like to help with donations they can be sent to the church or given to Jann Craig. Please mark your donations, “Love Packs”. Volunteers are also needed, please give Jann a call to get involved.

Call for Caring Adults!

We need volunteers to become Safe Sanctuaries certified.  Our youth ministries are rapidly growing and to accommodate that growth, particularly for mission activities, we need adult helpers that are trained and certified.  The more get trained, the more options we’ll have.

safe-sanYou can now get trained and certified on-line! Click here for more information (please!) Please prayerfully consider this ministry.

What is Safe Sanctuaries?
The Safe Sanctuaries program is a process developed to train and certify persons as safe workers with children and youth in Missouri Conference ministries. The policies were adopted in 1999, in response to God’s call to welcome all children and to protect them from the devastating effects of child abuse.
