Good Morning! What a warm sunny morning! Didn’t run this am, very short night, maybe this afternoon. Please keep the Howard family in your prayers, surgery went well yesterday, now recovery. Jimmy is cooking tonight, great food on tap. Hope to see may of your this evening! Have a great day!

“They fasted that day, and said, ‘We have sinned against the Lord.’.” Samuel 7:6

Israel is confessing their sin and desiring a restored relationship with God. God desires the renewed relationship always, it is humanity that stands in the way. How do we become reconciled? The people fasted. Why? It is an act of repentance, it allows them to clearly take to heart their desire for God. They are seeking God. God always seeks us, what do we do to seek God? How do we seek to recognize our sin and be restore? Just a thought for today.

Yesterday’s question: What California city with a biblical name had Clint Eastwood as a mayor? Carmel Debby Eastman is our winner today.

Today’s question The oldest town in the US with a biblical name is what?

Good Morning! A little rain this morning, but running in the 50’s was nice. Please keep the Howard family in your prayers today, Johnny is having bypass surgery. I will keep you abreast as I have info. Natalie is back! You don’t know how much someone does until they are not around. Her job is secure. Have a great day and stay dry!

“So Israel put away the Baals and the Astartes, and they served the Lord only.” Samuel 7:4

The Philistines have returned the Ark following a host of problems they experienced. Israel is now in a rebuilding time. A time of rebuilding their faithfulness. First on the list, get rid of false gods. We hear they put away the false gods. What would that look like for us? What if we were to put away our false gods? Where would we start and would we be willing? Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! What a great weekend! Mizzou lost, but in reflection it has been a much better season that expected and we are headed to the big dance. Go Tigers! It was great to spend the weekend with Pete, we had a Walk to Emmaus meeting in St. Louis, so a road trip on Saturday. The dogs were wild, but Mo really slept last night. Have a great week, and have a great day!

“The hand of the Lord was heavy upon the people of Ashdod, and he terrified and struck them with tumors, both in Ashdod and it its territory.” Samuel 5:6

The Philistines captured the Ark and put it in their temple. The idol they worship has been decapitated by God and now a toll is being extracted from the Philistine people for their actions against God. The Ark in the hands of God’s faithful is powerful, in the hands of God’s enemies has serious consequences. Even then the people wanted to believe the power of God could be reduced to a formula. Relationship with the living God has always been the key to our faith. Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! What a great morning! I had the chance to read the Kindergarten this morning in celebration of Dr. Seuss birthday. Wonderful kids, great staff, I love the chance to participate in the school. I have my fingers crossed, Mo slept all night two nights in a row. Snap, however has to be banished at night, no sleep for Snap at night. Big weekend coming, Pete will be in tonight, always good times. Have a great day!

“When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord.” Samuel 5:3

I love this, the Philistines capture the Ark and take it to their temple. They place it in the temple and their idol Dagaon, whom they worship is found the next morning face down before the Ark. Imagine what they think? God will be second to no one. I love the glory of the Lord, it will not be overshadowed, it will always shine. Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! I keep thinking I will awake to a warm morning, certainly not this morning. The sun is helpful, but warm would be good. The animal kingdom was calmer last night, they have been wild this week. Natalie is off to Chicago for the weekend, we have the office covered, Dixie is doing double duty. Great Wednesday, always good to eat and worship together. Have a great day!

“The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured.” Samuel 4:22

Eli has just lost his two sons in battle against the Philistines. Samuel had brought the word to Eli telling this would happen because the boys weren’t faithful in their duties as priests. Eli has died and the stress of all this cause his daughter-in-law to go into labor and give birth to a son, Ichabod. Interesting Ichabod means the glory of the Lord has departed. What will happen to Israel? We know the rest of the story, the question is could this have been avoided? Hmm. There is a lesson in this. Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! Chilly again this morning, but no wind. By the time I passed 5 miles I was peeling clothes, I am excited about running in 50’s. Mizzou about gave me a heart attack last night. I was at a Banquet, couldn’t watch the game, kept checking my iphone, we are ahead, behind, back and forth, the game goes into OT, we win. Crazy we should have blown them off the court. Hmm. Hope Saturday they play better against Kansas. Hope to see many of you out tonight. Great meal, great fellowship, see you about 5:00. Have a great day!

“And the word of Samuel came to all Israel..” Samuel 4:1

What makes the word of Samuel come to a nation? Samuel after all is a child, at least a young man. He has been in the hand of God since before he was born. One could say we are all in the hand of the Lord, but some of us are molded by the hand of the Lord, and some of us are a thorn in the hand of the Lord. Samuel is molded and used in a powerful way. The Spirit of God is clearly in Samuel and speaks through him, it is clear to everyone that Samuel is a prophet. Whose words do we listen to? Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! A warmer morning, but a bit windy. Pauline Pratt had her little boy yesterday, mother and son are doing well. I had a chance to visit with the whole family yesterday, little Matthew is very proud of his baby brother. The Craigs are home, had a chance to visit with Jerry yesterday, good to have them home. Mizzou plays tonight, the season is coming to an end, we have KU to close at home. MIZ………Have a great day!

“See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make both ears of anyone how hears of it tingle.” Samuel 3:11

That is exciting! The Lord is about to do something awesome and in fact says that it will make the ears of anyone who hears tingle. Don’t you long to have your ears tingle? I have folks praying during Lent for the Lord to do something huge, something awesome, so big that it is clearly the Lord in our midst. Maybe it will be something that will make our ears tingle, I don’t know. What I do know is that when the Lord is moving it is nothing less than exciting. Just a thought for today.

Good Morning! March has arrived, I’m not sure about the lion or lamb thing yet. This morning my run was really good, but it looks like the breeze is picking up. Baby Pratt is set to arrive today, joining a bunch of babies at SUMC, keep all in your prayers. Susie Cahill had her appendix removed this weekend, keep her in your prayers as well. Get out and enjoy the coming spring. It Have a great day!

‘And he got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am Lord for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.’ 1 Samuel 3:8

I can only imagine how exciting this had to be for Eli. Eli has had such issues with his own boys, not only do they not hear, but they don’t really pay any attention. Samuel is being awakened to the literal sound of God’s voice. Eli has had the opportunity to mentor the boy and know he is connecting with God. There is always joy in sharing the faith life of others and having the opportunity to see God move in their life. Who are yo mentoring? There is someone, even if you aren’t aware of it. Just a thought for today.
