One of the outreach and support ministries that Salem UMC participates in is the Festival of Sharing. It’s a powerful way that you can impact the lives of people through the region.

Thank you to so much to the person/persons who left the baby items at the South Entrance displays, they will be put to good use.   Both Displays have some kits that have been started and only need couple items to finish. More than one person can fill a kit.  You can also get a list of kit contents at www.umocm.com/festival.htm.

The Missouri Festival of Sharing is coming (You can start NOW!)

The third Saturday of October is the day that people of faith, from many different denominations all over the state, gather at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, in Sedalia. The groups and families bring money that has been raised and “kits” that have been assembled during the year. Volunteers help to sack rice, beans and potatoes for distribution to Missouri agencies. In the afternoon state agencies bring their trucks and trailers to receive the kits, rice, beans and potatoes to distribute to their clients. Kits, assembled for Church World Service, are loaded on a semi truck to continue their journey to other parts of the world.

The Festival is now in its 28th year and generates approximately $1 million annually.

The interfaith event is an expression of mission support and involvement that has helped improve the lives of countless individuals in Missouri and around the world.

Material goods collected and distributed through the Festival of Sharing is the primary part of the event. Individuals and faith communities work to collect the items in the kits each year to bring to the Festival of Sharing.

Just a reminder – Festival of Sharing is coming soon!  This ministry help people through our community and region that have unmet needs.  This is an opportunity to make a difference.

If you haven’t already gotten a list of item, please check out the boards at church.  Then, while you’re out, keep an eye out for these items.  Also, make sure you gather up the labels, eyeglasses, etc., that you’ve been saving all year.
